General Info

Duratron® CU60 PBI offers the highest heat resistance and mechanical property retention over 400°F of any unfilled plastic. It has better wear resistance and load carrying capabilities at extreme temperatures than any other reinforced or unreinforced engineering plastic. As an unreinforced material, Duratron® CU60 PBI is very “clean” in terms of ionic impurity and it does not outgas (except water). Duratron® CU60 PBI has excellent ultrasonic transparency as well as excellent thermal insulting properties. Other plastics in melt do not stick to PBI. These characteristics make it ideal for contact seals and insulator bushings in plastic production and molding equipment.

Key Properties

  • BEST MECHANICAL PROPERTIES TO 800°F (425°C)
  • Highest mechanical properties of any plastic above 400°F (204°C)
  • Highest heat deflection temperature 800°F (427°C), with a continuous service capabilityof 750°F (399°C) in inert environments, or 650°F (343°C) in air with short term exposure potential to 1,000°F (538°C)
  • Lowest coefficient of thermal expansion and highest compressive strength of all unfilled plastics
  • Low Outgassing Material
  • Total Mass Loss (TML%) 2.5%
  • Collected Volatile Condensable Materials (CVCM%) 0.00%
  • Water Vapor Regained (WVR%) 0.40%

Limitations

  • Chemical Resistance to Some Strong Acids
  • Highest Cost
  • Hygroscopic

  • Contact Seals for Injection Molding
  • High Temperature Bushings & Bearings
  • High Temperature Seals
  • Hot Runner Insulator Bushings for Injection Molding
  • Semiconductor Chamber Components
  • Thermal Insulator Components
  • Ultrasonic Measuring Equipment

Resin Trade Names

Manufacturer Trade Names

  • Duratron® CU60 PBI

Boedeker Plastics, Inc. stocks & supplies plastic sheet, rod, tube, film and custom profiles and machine parts from these shapes that are produced from plastic resin. In many cases the manufacturer of the shape has their own product trade name. If your specification calls for a specific resin grade or manufacturer trade name, we can supply a shape made from that resin to meet your specification or suggest an equal. If you require a specific resin or brand it must be specified at the time of order.

Available Sizes

Sheet Thickness .500” to 1.500” Sheet Size W x L 12” x 12” & 12” x 24” Rod Diameter .375” to 3.750” Tube Outside Diameter 1.625” to 10.750” Inside Diameter .750” to 7.000 Some sizes may have minimum order quantities.
