General Info
Celazole® U-60 ESD E8 is an electro-static dissipative (ESD) variant of U-60 available as a stock shape or part. U-60ESD E8 incorporates carbon fiber to increase the conductivity of the finished part and is often used where static discharge is a concern. U-60 ESD E8 offers a surface resistivity of 10^6 - 10^9. Ideal for critical, high strength parts that require static dissipative properties.
Celazole® U-60 ESD is also available in a E5 grade that has a surface resistivity of 10^4 - 10^6, which is conductive.
Celazole® U-60 ESD grades can be tailored to specific ESD characteristics as needed on a custom basis.

Key Properties
- High Temp
- Static Dissiaptive
- High Strength
Limitations
- PBI is extremely hard and can be challenging to fabricate.
- Polycrystalline diamond tools are recommended when fabricating production quantities.
- PBI tends to be notch sensitive. All corners should be radiused (0.040" min.) and edges chamfered to maximize part toughness.
- High tolerance fabricated components should be stored in sealed containers (usually polybags with desiccant) to avoid dimensional changes due to moisture absorption. •Cracking or Blistering - While it is not common, serious part damage can result from severe environmental shocks when PBI parts have sorbed moisture. This may occur when a moisture-containing PBI part experiences a rapid and extreme change in temperature nd/or pressure. For example, a part containing 4% moisture at ambient temperature and pressure which is then placed in full vacuum at 300C may crack or blister as the moisture escapes. Likewise, a PBI part saturated in steam and then rapidly decompressed may crack or blister. To avoid these situations, users must understand how to store and dry PBI parts (Contact Us for Guidelines).
Applications
- High Temp Static Dissipative Components
- High Strength Semiconductor Components
Resin Trade Names
Manufacturer Trade Names
Boedeker Plastics, Inc. stocks & supplies plastic sheet, rod, tube, film and custom profiles and machine parts from these shapes that are produced from plastic resin. In many cases the manufacturer of the shape has their own product trade name. If your specification calls for a specific resin grade or manufacturer trade name, we can supply a shape made from that resin to meet your specification or suggest an equal. If you require a specific resin or brand it must be specified at the time of order.
