General Info
GEHR PA 6.6™ Natural Extruded Nylon Plastic Rod is a high-performance engineering thermoplastic designed for structural and mechanical applications requiring high strength, rigidity, and wear resistance. This material adheres to ASTM D4066, the Standard Classification System for Nylon (Polyamide) Molding and Extrusion Materials.
Manufactured by GEHR and offered by Boedeker, this nylon is known for its low moisture absorption, increased surface hardness, and excellent dimensional stability, especially compared to standard PA 6 materials.
With a continuous operating temperature range of -22°F to +212°F (-30°C to +100°C), GEHR PA 6.6™ maintains performance in thermally demanding environments. It also offers abrasion resistance and good chemical resistance, making it ideal for parts exposed to mechanical friction, heat, and moderate chemical exposure.
While slightly less tough than PA 6 XT, GEHR PA 6.6™ provides enhanced rigidity and long-term wear performance, making it a preferred choice for precision-machined components, gears, bushings, rollers, and structural parts used in industrial equipment, automotive systems, and material handling applications.
Its natural (unpigmented) color ensures material purity and consistency during machining. The material's combination of mechanical strength and stability under load makes it ideal for high-performance applications where tight tolerances and durability are critical.
Note:
- NSF Certification: GEHR PA 6.6™ rod materials are listed to NSF Std 51 (food zone), and NSF Std 61 (health effects testing for drinking water).
- Note: This does not certify a finished part made from this material for the NSF specification; that is the responsibility of the customer, who will work directly with NSF on certifying the part.

    Key Properties
- Abrasion Resistance
- Toughness
- Mechanical Strength
- Rigidity
Limitations
- High Moisture Absorption
- Limited Resistance to Strong Acids & Alkalies Note - Nylons can absorb up to 7% (by weight) water under high humidity or submerged in water. This can result in dimensional changes up to 2% and a corresponding reduction of physical properties. Proper design techniques can frequently compensate for this factor.

    Applications
- Automotive Components
- Bearings and Bushings
- Industrial Machinery
- Material Handling
- Precision Machined Parts

    Resin Trade Names
Manufacturer Trade Names
Boedeker Plastics, Inc. stocks & supplies plastic sheet, rod, tube, film and custom profiles and machine parts from these shapes that are produced from plastic resin. In many cases the manufacturer of the shape has their own product trade name. If your specification calls for a specific resin grade or manufacturer trade name, we can supply a shape made from that resin to meet your specification or suggest an equal. If you require a specific resin or brand it must be specified at the time of order.
