General Info

PROTEUS® ORTHOTIC AND PROSTHETIC GRADE is a natural homopolymer polypropylene that is more rigid, used where a higher degree of stiffness is required. Proteus® O & P Grade offers tighter lot-to-lot consistency demanded by many thermoformers in the orthotic and prosthetic industry. Proteus® O & P Grade exhibits the same chemical and corrosion resistance as standard Proteus® Polypropylene and does not absorb moisture.

Key Properties

  • Thermoforming performance
  • Used for orthotic & prosthetic applications
  • Rigid form of polypropylene used where high stiffness is required
  • Typical Flexural Modulus: 195,000 PSI
  • Lot-to-lot consistency and formability
  • Chemical- and corrosion-resistant
  • No moisture absorption

Limitations

  • Lower Impact Strength Than HDPE
  • Poor Resistance to Aromatic, Aliphatic and Chlorinated Solvents.

Applications

  • Orthotic and prosthetic devices
  • Thermoformed part

Boedeker Plastics, Inc. stocks & supplies plastic sheet, rod, tube, film and custom profiles and machine parts from these shapes that are produced from plastic resin. In many cases the manufacturer of the shape has their own product trade name. If your specification calls for a specific resin grade or manufacturer trade name, we can supply a shape made from that resin to meet your specification or suggest an equal. If you require a specific resin or brand it must be specified at the time of order.
