General Info

Compared with conventional nylons, Nylatron® 4.6 features a better retention of stiffness and creep resistance over a wide range of temperatures as well as superior heat aging resistance. Therefore, applications for Nylatron® 4.6 are situated in the “higher temperature area” (175-300°F) where stiffness, creep resistance, heat aging resistance, fatigue strength and wear resistance of PA6 PA66, POM and PET fall short.

Key Properties

  • Higher Continuous Use Temp of 300°F (148°C) than other Nylons
  • Higher strength, stiffness and creep resistance at elevated temperatures than other Nylons

Limitations

  • High Moisture Absorption
  • Limited Resistance to Strong Acids & Alkalies Note - Nylons can absorb up to 7% (by weight) water under high humidity or submerged in water. This can result in dimensional changes up to 2% and a corresponding reduction of physical properties. Proper design techniques can frequently compensate for this factor.

Applications

  • Bushings & Bearings
  • Conveyor Wear Components
  • Gears
  • Metal Replacement Applications
  • Pulleys
  • Sheaves
  • Wear Pads
  • Bearing & Wear Parts for a Wide Range Automated Equipment
  • Valve Seats & Seals

Resin Trade Names

Manufacturer Trade Names

  • Nylatron® 4.6

Boedeker Plastics, Inc. stocks & supplies plastic sheet, rod, tube, film and custom profiles and machine parts from these shapes that are produced from plastic resin. In many cases the manufacturer of the shape has their own product trade name. If your specification calls for a specific resin grade or manufacturer trade name, we can supply a shape made from that resin to meet your specification or suggest an equal. If you require a specific resin or brand it must be specified at the time of order.
