General Info

Of all the unmodified nylons, this grade is the strongest, most rigid, and has one of the highest melting points. This material is available in natural (off-white) and black colors, and custom coloring is available. The natural grade is FDA, USDA and 3A-Dairy compliant and is primarily used for food contact parts.

Key Properties

  • Good mechanical and electrical properties
  • Ideal balance of strength and toughness
  • FDA Compliant

Limitations

  • High Moisture Absorption
  • Limited Resistance to Strong Acids & Alkalies Note - Nylons can absorb up to 7% (by weight) water under high humidity or submerged in water. This can result in dimensional changes up to 2% and a corresponding reduction of physical properties. Proper design techniques can frequently compensate for this factor.

Applications

  • Bushings & Bearings
  • Conveyor Wear Components
  • Gears
  • Metal Replacement Applications
  • Pulleys
  • Roller Wheels
  • Sheaves
  • Wear Pads
  • Bearing & Wear Parts for a Wide Range Automated Equipment
  • Valve Seats & Seals

Boedeker Plastics, Inc. stocks & supplies plastic sheet, rod, tube, film and custom profiles and machine parts from these shapes that are produced from plastic resin. In many cases the manufacturer of the shape has their own product trade name. If your specification calls for a specific resin grade or manufacturer trade name, we can supply a shape made from that resin to meet your specification or suggest an equal. If you require a specific resin or brand it must be specified at the time of order.
