General Info

Nylatron® GSM Blue Polyamide Type 6 is first cast nylon to combine both molybdenum disulphide (MoS2) and oil for the load capability of Nylatron® GSM nylon, plus improved frictional characteristics. It excels in higher pressures, and at low speeds–up to 40 fpm. It offers 20% lower coefficient of friction, 50% greater limiting PV, and a lower “k” factor than Nylatron® GSM, making it ideal for slide pads, thrust washers and trunnion bearings. Nylatron® GSM Blue should be considered for any oil-filled nylon application. It is dark blue in color.

Key Properties

  • Higher Strength & Toughness
  • Designed Specifically for Use at High Pressures and Low Speeds
  • Broadest Size Range Availability
  • Can be Cast as Finished Parts and Near Net Shapes (Nylon 6)

Limitations

  • High Moisture Absorption
  • Limited Resistance to Strong Acids & Alkalies Note - Nylons can absorb up to 7% (by weight) water under high humidity or submerged in water. This can result in dimensional changes up to 2% and a corresponding reduction of physical properties. Proper design techniques can frequently compensate for this factor.

Applications

  • Bushings & Bearings
  • Conveyor Wear Components
  • Gears
  • Metal Replacement Applications
  • Pulleys
  • Roller Wheels
  • Sheaves
  • Wear Pads
  • Bearing & Wear Parts for a Wide Range Automated Equipment
  • Valve Seats & Seals

Resin Trade Names

Manufacturer Trade Names

  • Nylatron® GSM Blue

Boedeker Plastics, Inc. stocks & supplies plastic sheet, rod, tube, film and custom profiles and machine parts from these shapes that are produced from plastic resin. In many cases the manufacturer of the shape has their own product trade name. If your specification calls for a specific resin grade or manufacturer trade name, we can supply a shape made from that resin to meet your specification or suggest an equal. If you require a specific resin or brand it must be specified at the time of order.
