General Info

SUSTAMID 6G provides excellent sliding properties and impact resistance and is commonly used in applications requiring larger parts. This product is manufactured by directly casting the raw materials into a mold to produce sheets, rods, tubes and near-net shapes. SUSTAMID 6G Natural is off-white in color and is commonly used in food processing applications.

Key Properties

  • Excellent sliding properties
  • Continuous use temperature of 200° F
  • Good abrasion resistance
  • High mechanical and impact strength
  • Highly resistant to hydrocarbons, alkalis and oils
  • Excellent machinability
  • Natural is FDA compliant

Limitations

  • High Moisture Absorption
  • Limited Resistance to Strong Acids & Alkalies Note - Nylons can absorb up to 7% (by weight) water under high humidity or submerged in water. This can result in dimensional changes up to 2% and a corresponding reduction of physical properties. Proper design techniques can frequently compensate for this factor.

Applications

  • Bushings & Bearings
  • Gears
  • Sheaves
  • Sprockets
  • Thrust Washers
  • Timing Screws
  • Wear Pads
