General Info

BOETEK® PR-43-HT 30% CARBON FIBER CM PEEK XT is a high-performance, 30% carbon fiber reinforced, compression-molded PEEK engineered for demanding mechanical applications operating at elevated temperatures. The material is based on the KetaSpire® PEEK XT resin system, which provides the chemical resistance and processing characteristics associated with standard PEEK while offering higher thermal performance and improved mechanical and electrical properties.

Compared with standard PEEK, KetaSpire® PEEK XT has a 20°C (36°F) higher glass transition temperature and a 45°C (81°F) higher melting temperature. This provides additional thermal capability for demanding applications while retaining the strong chemical resistance associated with PEEK. Unlike other high-temperature polyketones such as PEK, PEKK, and PEKEKK that can offer similar thermal capability, KetaSpire® PEEK XT is designed to maintain the chemical resistance associated with conventional PEEK.

The addition of 30% carbon fiber reinforcement further increases stiffness, strength, and dimensional stability. BOETEK® PR-43-HT has a tensile strength of 17,850 psi, flexural strength of 31,000 psi, flexural modulus of 1,300,000 psi, and compressive strength of 24,800 psi. It also offers a heat deflection temperature of 575°F, a continuous use temperature of 500°F, low moisture absorption of 0.13%, and a low coefficient of linear thermal expansion.

These properties make BOETEK® PR-43-HT particularly well suited for rub-tolerant labby seals (labyrinth seals) used in compressors, turbines, rotating equipment, and other systems where close-running clearances, dimensional stability, elevated temperature performance, and resistance to aggressive operating environments are important.

Boedeker Plastics, Inc. stocks & supplies plastic sheet, rod, tube, film and custom profiles and machine parts from these shapes that are produced from plastic resin. In many cases the manufacturer of the shape has their own product trade name. If your specification calls for a specific resin grade or manufacturer trade name, we can supply a shape made from that resin to meet your specification or suggest an equal. If you require a specific resin or brand it must be specified at the time of order.
