General Info
Compression Molded Torlon® 4540 PAI is a seal and bearing grade offering a very low coefficient of friction and good wear properties. It was developed specifically for use in rotating equipment. Its composition is the same as the former Torlon® 4340 PAI and used when larger (especially tubular) shapes are required. Typical applications for Torlon® 4540 PAI include labyrinth seals, wear rings, bushings, and bearings of all types.

Key Properties
- Thermal Performance to 500°F (260°C) Continuous Use Temp
- Bearing & Wear and Seal Grade
- Formulated for Rotating Equipment
- Excellent Wear Resistance
- Low Coefficient of Friction (COF)
- Compression Molded Grade Offers Larger Shapes & Thicker Cross Sections
Limitations
- Torlon® PAI has a relatively high moisture absorption rate, parts used in high temperatureservice or made to tight tolerances should be kept dry prior to installation. Thermal shock resulting indeformation can occur if moisture laden parts are rapidly exposed to temperatures above 400°F (205° C).
Applications
- Bushings & Bearings

Manufacturer Trade Names
Boedeker Plastics, Inc. stocks & supplies plastic sheet, rod, tube, film and custom profiles and machine parts from these shapes that are produced from plastic resin. In many cases the manufacturer of the shape has their own product trade name. If your specification calls for a specific resin grade or manufacturer trade name, we can supply a shape made from that resin to meet your specification or suggest an equal. If you require a specific resin or brand it must be specified at the time of order.
