General Info
Ketron ® LSG CC Carbon Composite is a specially developed PEEK based composite which offers a high-performance profile due to its woven carbon reinforced structure. This material is on average comprised of 57% Carbon fibers and 43% Impregnated PEEK Polymer pressed into layers(laminates) of 0.325mm.
Perfect for reducing weight in critical instruments, Ketron LSG CC PEEK has a higher specific strength (strength to weight ratio) than Stainless Steel, Aluminum or Titanium.
Its key properties include superior mechanical strength and stiffness at elevated temperatures, outstanding friction and wear resistance, as well as excellent performance in chemical an irradiated environment.
Note: This is a laminated composite and some properties will differ based on direction of composite reinforcement (see key properties for values).

Key Properties
- Note some properties will vary by direction, Z direction is defined as the perpendicular direction from the woven carbon reinforcement layer and XY is parallel with the woven carbon reinforcement layer
- Note compressive strength values differ in laminate direction and cross direction 109,000 psi (z-direction) & 85,000 psi (in-plane XY-direction)
- Note compressive modulus differ in laminate direction and cross direction 1,300,000 psi (z-direction) & 4,200,000 (in-plane XY-direction)
- Note CLTE differ in laminate direction and cross direction 2.8 x 10^5 (z-direction) and 2.2 x 10^6 (in-plane XY direction)
- 4,200,000 psi Significantly higher E-Modulus at 54 GPa (Ketron® CA30 PEEK -> 9,200 MPa)
- High mechanical strength and stiffness
- Radiolucent
- Ability to be precisely machined
- Dimensional stability following multiple sterilizations
- Biocompatible
- Light weight
Limitations
- Poor Chemical Resistance to Halogens and Their Acids Including Bromine, Chlorine, Fluorine, HBr and HF
Applications
- Target devices in Osteosynthesis
Resin Trade Names
Manufacturer Trade Names
Boedeker Plastics, Inc. stocks & supplies plastic sheet, rod, tube, film and custom profiles and machine parts from these shapes that are produced from plastic resin. In many cases the manufacturer of the shape has their own product trade name. If your specification calls for a specific resin grade or manufacturer trade name, we can supply a shape made from that resin to meet your specification or suggest an equal. If you require a specific resin or brand it must be specified at the time of order.
