General Info

PolyTetraFluoroEthylene is a fluorocarbon-based polymer and is commonly abbreviated PTFE. While the most famous brand of PTFE is manufactured only by DuPont, several other manufacturers make their own brands of PTFE which can often be used as substitute material. PTFE has outstanding chemical resistance, a wide operating temperature range from cryogenic to 500F, resistance to weathering, high impact strength, low friction, electrical and thermal insulation, and self-lubricating properties. 25% Carbon filled PTFE has improved dimensional stability with a lower coefficient of linear thermal expansion and higher deformation under load. When compared to glass filled PTFE grades carbon filled grades are less abrasive to mating surfaces in bearing applications and can be used in strong alkali and in HF, where glass reinforced grades typically fail.

Manufacturer Trade Names

Boedeker Plastics, Inc. stocks & supplies plastic sheet, rod, tube, film and custom profiles and machine parts from these shapes that are produced from plastic resin. In many cases the manufacturer of the shape has their own product trade name. If your specification calls for a specific resin grade or manufacturer trade name, we can supply a shape made from that resin to meet your specification or suggest an equal. If you require a specific resin or brand it must be specified at the time of order.
