GENERAL DESCRIPTIONTorlon ® PAI is the highest performing melt processable plastic. It has superior resistance to elevated temperatures. It is capable of performing under severe stress conditions at continuous temperatures to 500°F (260°C). Parts machined from Torlon ® PAI stock shapes provide greater compressive strength and higher impact resistance than most advanced engineering plastics. Its extremely low coefficient of linear thermal expansion and high creep resistance deliver excellent dimensional stability over its entire use range. PAI is an amorphous material with a Tg (glass transition temperature) of 537°F (280°C).
Torlon 5030 PAI (Extruded)
Torlon ® 5030 is 30% glass reinforced, extruded PAI. It is ideal for higher load structural or electronic applications. This grade is similar in composition to Torlon ® 5530 PAI (compression molded). It is selected for smaller shapes or when the greatest degree of dimensional control is required. Applications include burn-in sockets, gears, valve plates, impellers, rotors, terminal strips, and insulators. NOTE: Torlon 5030 was also formerly known as Torlon 4XG.
Torlon ® 5030 extruded PAI is the same formulation as compression molded Torlon 5530 PAI, but has been made into stock shapes using a different manufacturing process. The resulting material is similar to 5530, but has slightly different mechanical properties. Extruded Torlon ® 5030 is typically only available in thin sheets and small diameter rods. Check with us for availability of 5030 in the size you need. (see also Duratron T5030 PAI)
