GENERAL DESCRIPTION Hydlar ® Z material combines the properties of Nylon with the strength and wear resistance of Kevlar ® aramid fibers. The resulting material is strong, tough, and has excellent wear resistance --- up to 20 times that of standard nylon. This material is available in rod and sheet forms only.
GENERAL PROPERTIES outstanding wear resistance high mechanical properties non-galling surface good chemical resistance good temperature resistance
HYDLAR ® Z GRADES Hydlar ® Z
Hydlar ® Z is the basic, most common grade available. This Nylon material with Kevlar ® aramid fibers only. Hydlar ® Z is NOT FDA,USDA, or 3A-Dairy compliant.
Hydlar ® ZF
Effective in January 2006, Hydlar ® ZF (FDA, USDA and 3A-Dairy compliant) material is no longer being produced. The manufacturer of the resin has changed the formulation and it is no longer FDA compliant. Check with us for availability of the "ZF" grade of compliant material before proceeding.
Hydlar ® ZT
Hydlar ® ZT has the added benefit of a small amount of PTFE added for increased lubricity (lower friction) resulting in improved wear resistance.
Hydlar ® ZM
Hydlar ® ZM has the added benefit of a small amount of Molybdenum Disulphide added for improved surface hardness and increased lubricity (lower friction) resulting in improved wear resistance. NOTE: Effective in October 2008, Hydlar ® ZM material is no longer stocked, but is available by special custom order only. Check with us for availability of the "ZM" grade of material before proceeding.
