The European Union has passed the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in
Electrical and Electronic Equipment (RoHS) Directive into law. Effective
July 1, 2006, the RoHS Directive (2002/95/EC) will ban the sale of all
new electrical and electronic equipment that contains more than designated
maximum allowable levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium,
polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE)
flame retardants.
Boedeker Plastics is an independent distributor of plastic materials in
pre-molded stock shape forms. To the best of our knowledge, plastic
materials that we sell do not contain any chemical of concern above the
limits designated in the RoHS Directive as described above or its amendments.
As a distributor, Boedeker Plastics does not formulate or manufacture
any of the materials that we sell. Chemicals contained in the materials
or used in the manufacturing of the materials are selected and used at
the sole discretion of the manufacturer and in many cases will be
considered intellectual property. Accordingly, we are unable to represent
or certify to our customers the exact ingredients that are contained in
or used in the manufacturing processes of the materials we provide for
resale. Any certification of chemical content is the sole responsibility
of the manufacturer.
Boedeker Plastics is aware of the EU RoHS compliance deadline of
July 1, 2006 and is presently gathering information from the manufacturers
of the products that we distribute. We are asking for RoHS statements
from each of our manufacturers regarding their products and compliance
to RoHS limits. We will use our best efforts to gather this information
and communicate it to our customers. Information may include product
status, dates of product compliance and data that may be available from
each respective manufacturer about their products to document their compliance.
We can and do hereby certify that Boedeker Plastics does not add any of
the RoHS restricted materials during its cutting, shaping, forming, storage
or handling processes.
Manufacturers’ RoHS compliance information provided by Boedeker Plastics
to our customers is intended only as research assistance so that they may
complete their due diligence. It does not represent in any way a
certification by Boedeker Plastics as to the chemical content of any product.
