GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Torlon ® PAI is the highest performing melt processable plastic. It has superior resistance to elevated temperatures. It is capable of performing under severe stress conditions at continuous temperatures to 500°F (260°C). Parts machined from Torlon ® PAI stock shapes provide greater compressive strength and higher impact resistance than most advanced engineering plastics. Its extremely low coefficient of linear thermal expansion and high creep resistance deliver excellent dimensional stability over its entire use range. PAI is an amorphous material with a Tg (glass transition temperature) of 537°F (280°C).
Torlon 4XCF 30% Carbon-Reinforced (Extruded)
Torlon ® 4XCF is 30% carbon reinforced, extruded PAI. It offers exceptional stiffness, nonabrasive wear performance and the lowest coefficient of thermal expansion and the best fatigue resistance of all plastic materials. Key applications for Torlon 4XCF PAI include metal replacement, sliding vanes, aerospace parts, impellers, shrouds, pistons, and housings.
Extruded Torlon ® 4XCF PAI is typically only available in thin sheets and small diameter rods. Check with us for availability of 4XCF in the size you need. (see also Duratron T7130 PAI)
NOTE: This less-common carbon-reinforced grade is NOT AVAILABLE FROM STOCK, but rather can be offered ONLY BY SPECIAL ORDER ... long leadtimes and large minimum order quantities may apply when ordering this grade in sheet or rod forms.
