GENERAL DESCRIPTIONTorlon ® PAI is the highest performing melt processable plastic. It has superior resistance to elevated temperatures. It is capable of performing under severe stress conditions at continuous temperatures to 500°F (260°C). Parts machined from Torlon ® PAI stock shapes provide greater compressive strength and higher impact resistance than most advanced engineering plastics. Its extremely low coefficient of linear thermal expansion and high creep resistance deliver excellent dimensional stability over its entire use range. PAI is an amorphous material with a Tg (glass transition temperature) of 537°F (280°C).
Torlon 4503 PAI (Compression Molded)
Torlon ® 4503 compression molded PAI offers excellent compressive strength and high elongation properties. It also provides electrical insulation and exceptional impact strength. This grade is commonly used for electrical connectors and insulators due to its high dielectric strength. See also Duratron T4203 Extruded PAI.
Torlon ® 4503 compression molded PAI is the same formulation as extruded Torlon 4203 PAI, but has been made into stock shapes using a different manufacturing process. The resulting material is similar to 4203, but has slightly different mechanical properties. See Torlon 4203 Extruded PAI datasheet for comparison, or these two electrical grades side-by-side here.
See also Torlon 4203 Extruded Compression Molded PAI specification for comparison, or these two electrical grades side-by-side here.
Compression-molded Torlon ® 4503 PAI is typically available only in larger diameter rods (in short lengths), thicker sheets, and large (but short length) tubes. Check with us for availability of Torlon 4503 PAI in the size you need.
